How to Become Your Best Self

This really boggles my mind.

As a mother, you make sacrifices, move mountains, and spend time and energy so your kiddos can take advantage of every opportunity to be the best whatever.

Yet you settle on “good enough” for yourself.

I don’t have to ask why. I know why. You know why. We’re women… that’s just what we do.

Will you do me a favor, sister? Close your eyes and imagine your “best self” for a minute… or a few. What is her presence like? How does she carry herself? Who does she influence and how?

Now, I have to believe those mental images that represent your best self aren’t random aha’s because this really isn’t the first time you’ve ever thought about this, is it?

These “ideas” are actually rooted deep within your heart because you want to be your best self

But, for some reason, you either feel you don’t deserve it OR you feel obligated to help others find their best.

Bless your heart. You’re such a wholesome, selfless, deeply admired woman… who has permission to become her best self, too.

Yep. You, too, can participate in the “be your best self” movement that you not only promote, but also facilitate for those around you.

It is abso-freakin’-lutely OK for you to want to stretch, grow, and develop yourself into who you were meant to be. It is equally freakin’ OK to actually do it.

But, you gotta do the do, sister.

So, here are some powerful and practical tips to help you start moving toward your best self.

5 Powerful Tips for Becoming Your Best Self

Don’t be afraid to try new things

Your greatest enemy is fear of change. Make it a point to try something new on a regular basis. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone to do it and get comfortable being uncomfortable. This is where you will have some of your biggest “growth spurts”.

Go after what you want

What do you want more than anything? What is your ultimate dream? What is your calling in life? Questions like these will help you unlock who you are meant to be. They are not a reflection of what others want for you. Ah, heck no. This is all about YOU right now and who you think you should be.

Find creative ways to keep moving forward

We all have days when our get-up-and-go won’t get up… and refuses to go. But get up and go anyway. When you’re low on energy or motivation, etc., find ways to keep pushing that needle in the right direction. Spend a little time each day doing something that rekindles that spark – listen to a podcast, post your goals so you see them often, keep a notebook of ideas and revisit them consistently, etc.

Create Healthy Habits

Healthy habits that are incorporated into a consistent routine will keep you moving in the right direction, especially on days when your mojo cops a teen-age ‘tude. Remember, building healthy habits that stick will take time. Start slow and be consistent with the process. The idea is to make small changes that will become a way of life.

Make self-care a priority

Of course, I saved the best for last. This particular step is at the heart of becoming your best self. Sister, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, you have to get this right for the other steps to be effective. Pay attention to your diet, get plenty of rest, hydrate, exercise, and include any other self-care act necessary for delivering you to that sweet spot of yours.

You take it from here.

Ready.

Set.

GROW.
