How to Manifest Success With a Letter from Your Future Self

Success is a quirky word because it’s such an individual concept, yet everybody uses it. For example, you and I both talk about success, but what success means to me and what it means to you can be two totally different things.

However, there is a commonality I have noticed.

Most “successful” people have manifested their success in some way or another.

In a recent conversation with my business coach, we were discussing where I wanted to go with my business. We talked about my vision and some specific goals necessary to make it a reality.

At the end of our session, she gave me an assignment. She asked me to write a letter from the perspective of my future self explaining what life was like in 90 days, 1 year, 3 years, etc.

Yours truly chose 5 years. Go big… or go home, right?

Wow. I was familiar with this exercise, but honestly, I had never been open to the idea. To be honest, it seemed a little woo-woo to me.

But let me tell you…

This letter from my future self was one of the most motivating and inspiring things I have done in a while, for both myself and for my business. It opened up my mind to so many new opportunities and possibilities.

I felt it was all actually happening because there simply wasn’t an option for it to not to happen.

In the past, I would sit down to make a plan for what I was going to do. This plan included strategic action to accomplish that plan.

Then I would create my vision based on the plan I had created – If I do X, then Y will happen.

But shut the front door. I quickly realized that I had been going about this process all wrong – I had it completely bass-ackwards.

This is what I learned…

First, envision where you will be and what you will be doing. Then, make a plan with the appropriate strategy to get you there.

This will take you to a place of new possibilities and opportunities you might not have ever considered.

Writing down your hopes, dreams, and aspirations as future facts is life-giving. Not only does it help you see that your desires are attainable, but the positive energy and emotion generated from the letter will naturally increase your motivation to work toward your goals.

Now sister, please don’t misunderstand. There is nothing magical about this letter. You can’t just speak it into reality. You’ve got to put in the work.

But it will help you identify where you’re going and what you need to do to get there… in that order.

In case you missed it, find out why vulnerability is the key to opening yourself up to new possibilities and opportunities. Your future self will thank you for it.
