I WILL… The Line In The Sand Between “I Can’t” And “I Can

“I can’t wake up early to exercise… “

“I can’t eliminate sugar from my diet…”

“I can’t homeschool my kids…”

“I can’t leave my 9 to 5…”

The list goes on, doesn’t it?

As women, we are natural born cheerleaders and encouragers for others, but for self, we can be the biggest “Negative Nellie” on the planet.

Why in the world are we so quick to rattle off the many reasons someone else can do or be something, yet just as quick (if not quicker) on the draw to shoot down possibilities for ourselves with a round of reasons (or excuses… I just call ‘em like I see ‘em, partner) of why we can’t?

I’ll tell you why. From the outside looking in, it is easy to see the big picture for someone else. We know firsthand what they are capable of. We have observed the way they maneuver through other life scenarios.

Sometimes we are so confident in their ability, we can even predict the steps they need to take (and the ones they need to avoid) toward the end goal. Positivity overflows from us as we stand in their corner.

But goodness, how the opposite is true for little ol’ us.

We limit our own potential with an insider perspective. It’s almost as if we willfully place blinders over our eyes because we don’t want to see the actual possibilities… somewhat like the blinders our family puts on when it’s time to replace the toilet paper roll. Mmmm hmmmm – out of sight, out of mind.

We do this, mostly because it’s safe… safe from mistakes, inconveniences, hardships, discomfort… ALL the things we have been conditioned to avoid.

Oh friend, can I be raw and real with you for a hot minute? You are missing out on so much that life has to offer simply because you’re “playing it safe.”

Your REAL LIFE… the one you were created for… is waiting for you on the other side of all of those things that self judgment (and fear) want you to steer clear of.

I’m certain you have heard the phrase, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Do you want to experience freedom from the trap that “I can’t” holds you prisoner?

I challenge you to draw a line in the sand with an “I WILL” attitude… sister, that takes “I can” to a whole new level of potential and possibility.

  • What do you really want? Define your end goal… get specific.

  • Identify potential distractions, hurdles, and roadblocks (I guaran-darn-tee you there will be some) and map out a detour around them.

  • Don’t stop until you get there.

Yes, you will make mistakes along the way… learn from them.

You will be inconvenienced… take advantage of every opportunity.

At times you will be uncomfortable… get comfortable being uncomfortable.

You will encounter some hardship… do hard things.

Girl, you’ve got this. You can. You will.
