Mindset Over Matter: Transforming Your Days and Ultimately Your Life
We are such a culture of checklists and to do’s, are we not?
Oh yeah, guilty right here.
Why the heck is that?
Well, for one, our society has adopted a mindset that prefers quantity over quality.
As women, we convince ourselves that it is easier to work hard and accomplish more tasks to change our future instead of simply changing our minds.
Oh boy, did we miss this one, sister.
“It’s just mind over matter.”
Ok, for real, how many times have you heard that phrase in your life? Better yet, how many times have you said it to your kids?
“You will pass that test, make the team, earn first chair in the band, etc… because you can accomplish anything when you put your mind to it. It’s just mind over matter.”
Think back to the things you have accomplished from your childhood until now.
They didn’t just appear on a checklist as another task for another day, now did they?
Those accomplishments took skill, practice, determination, grit, discipline, confidence, AND a mindset conducive to success.
It’s easy to talk about, but one of the most difficult challenges is actually creating and maintaining a positive mindset.
When we consume ourselves with the number of tasks on a checklist more than the quality of the outcome, who has time or energy for positivity and focus? We’re just racing to get stuff done.
And, if you’re anything like me, that’s not much because there’s like 47 things on that list… er’y. single. day.
Not only does your mindset play an important role in the way you create and approach your “to do” list, it significantly affects the outcome.
At the beginning of October, I spent some time working through a training to help me eliminate my checklist mentality and focus more on what I wanted out of my day.
As a wife, mom, entrepreneur, and leader, I want to shift away from creating a list of things I had to do and live my life in a space where I do the things I want to do.
If I could ever claim a superpower, it would be my keen sense of awareness and ability to recognize when something isn’t working.
Ummm yeah, that checklist mentality I clung to for years… it was not working for me. It wasn’t necessarily a “bad” thing, but it was definitely not the best.
Sister, it’s time to shift away from the checklist, to-do list, busy list (whatever the heck you want to call it) that you get absolutely no satisfaction from, and commit to a mindset that motivates you.
In this space, your daily tasks will be things you want to do specific to your desired outcome, instead of dreaded daily duties you have to do.
Each new day you will wake up in a better place, confident that you are moving in the right direction.
To do differently, you must start thinking differently.
So sister, what can you say about your mindset? Do you tackle your day with an “I have to” OR “I want to” mentality? What changes can you make in the way you approach each new day?
Finding small ways to reframe your mindset in the short term will set you up to experience a more productive and enjoyable life in the long term.
Not only will you create a space of positivity and productivity for yourself, but also for those people in your circle of influence (i.e. family, friends, co-workers, team, etc.).
I like to refer to this space as your “sweet spot”. It is that place where you include those things in life that bring you the most joy, make the biggest impact, and allow you to live to the fullest.
I know the moment I leave my sweet spot, I turn into a freakin’ whack job. I get a headache, I’m stuck in a funk, I yell at my kids… the “ugly Kacie” list goes on.
I don’t just love living in my sweet spot. Sister, I can’t afford to leave.
Maybe YOU have never discovered your sweet spot, or perhaps the current condition of the world has pulled you away from it. Either way, I can help you.
In my book, “The Sweet Spot: Everything Women Need to Know to Enjoy Life More”, I show you how to let go of the life the world would have you live and point you toward the life that makes you genuinely happy. No people-pleasing allowed.
In “The Sweet Spot”, you will learn how to create:
Habits that work for you, not against you
Routines that refresh you, not wear you down
Relationships that enrich you, not deplete you
Sweet sister, your sweet spot is waiting for you… and you can find it right here.
