So THIS Is What Vulnerability Looks Like…

“Vulnerability – it sounds like truth and looks like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they are never a weakness.” – Brene Brown

Vulnerability gets a bad rap… and that’s a dang shame. For a long time, many have associated it with negative stereotypes like being too emotional, weak, or fragile.

I call, “bull crap”.

Here’s the deal.

When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you are opening your mind and heart to new possibilities and opportunities.

And that is where some of your most meaningful human experiences will take root.

Vulnerability is the key to building strong, healthy relationships. It will not only help you improve trust with others, but it will also help you stay true to yourself.

I’m not gonna lie. Closing yourself off to the rest of the world and holing up underneath the shelter of what you’re familiar with feels safe. I get it.

It’s daunting to think about the uncertainty of taking risks and the idea of exposing your emotions… especially the most sensitive ones.

Stepping out of your comfort zone or doing something that forces you to relinquish control doesn’t feel so good. It’s freakin’ scary, to be honest.

But “playing it safe” will only stifle your dreams and kill your desire to want more for your life. You will end up closing yourself off to any potential that has your name written all over it.

Ironically, “playing it safe” in a world that is changing about as fast as my menopausal mood swings is actually one of the riskiest things you can do. You will miss out on the best life has to offer.

It’s so easy to become distracted by your circumstances and focus all of your energy and attention on the things in your life that are sub-par, at best. It takes very little effort to identify and complain about what’s not working.

So for just a moment, I want you to look up from any discontent that’s holding you prisoner and imagine what it would be like if you were to say “YES” to more possibilities and opportunities

Now, consider the things in your life that are working… and be grateful for those.

If you make gratitude a priority and the perspective from which you tackle each new day, vulnerability will no longer be a threat you avoid. It will be a way of life that you seek.

I guaran-darn-tee it.

You know you have given yourself permission to be vulnerable when you show up and allow people to see you for who you really are.

And that is about as freeing as releasing those ta-ta’s from constraint at the end of a long day.

A willingness to open yourself up to new possibilities and opportunities will unlock your potential like you never imagined. It will be the birthplace of creativity, innovation, and change toward fulfilling your dreams and desires.

Be on the lookout for more “raw and real Kacie” in next week’s blog post (same time, same place). I will be exposing my heart and sharing about one of the most vulnerable times in my life and how I responded. Trust me. You don’t want to miss it.
