How to See Through the Stigma of Network Marketing

I remember the predictable comments and questions that spewed from the mouths of my co-workers, family and friends when they found out I had joined – big gasp – a network marketing company.

“Don’t do it.”

“Isn’t that one of those illegal pyramid schemes?”

“Only 1 percent of MLMers make it. You really think you will be one of them?”

“It’s a waste of time and money.”

“It’s a scam. You will never get your money back.”

I understood that the intent of their heart was to protect me. I also knew that their misinformed perspective resulted from watching others “do” Network Marketing… the wrong way.

Just like squeezing a tube of toothpaste, there is only one way to do it right. (*PLEASE tell me you squeeze from the bottom… )

When you find the right direct sales company, you don’t have to check your personality, character, and integrity at the door.

Having a genuine passion to serve and to help people while creating a fulfilling community of like-minded women on a similar mission is at the very root of authentic Network Marketing.

The connection you will experience with this perspective is just… different. You can’t help but want to be a part.

You have skin in the game. You are leading teams. You are making a real difference… both in your life and those we serve.

When you are a part of a genuine community, there is no need to be aggressive, pitch products to your friends from high school, get yourself blocked on social media, etc.

I don’t know about you, but I have had my fill of that behavior. It has poisoned our industry. And that breaks my heart.

When you subscribe to the way Network Marketing can and should be done (but rarely is), you show up as a giver… not a taker.

I remember some of my first “OMG THANK YOU” texts from customers in the wee hours of the morning… messages from a grateful mother whose child was no longer running a fever or a friend now free from her anxiety.

I can’t even adequately describe the rush I feel every time I get this type of feedback from my customers.

The difference between what you have observed and what I (and so many others) have experienced is this…

  • I chose a company whose genuine platform is to help people (givers, not takers).

  • I knew I already loved their product because hello, I had been using it for 20 years.

Heck, my personal experience with the product I represent is validation enough.

Here’s the deal…

You can be an incredible business person with the gift to sell an igloo to an Eskimo, BUT if you don’t settle in with the right company that sells the right product and if you are not a product of the product, it’s just not going to work.

It’s just not.
