Will You Stay… Or Will You Go?
Let me guess. Rona has initiated some change and provoked a little (or maybe a lot) of disruption for you and your family over the past few months. She has surely made her presence known at de casa Vaudrey.
It’s no news flash for you that this gal came in like a freakin’ wrecking ball. She showed up to the party disguised as a virus destined to attack our physical health… but we soon discovered that was just her opening act.
Ol’ Rona is stirring up more drama than a snooty teenage girl at a junior high school dance. Any idea what her weapon of destruction is? You have three guesses… and the first two don’t count.
Yep. You got it. FEAR.
And look at how powerful her tactic has proven to be… a tremendous economic downfall, a significant rise in anxiety and depression, an even greater division within our country… the list goes on.
This is what happens when panic is our reaction to fear.
Anytime we’re up against something that is foreign and uncomfortable, panic is our natural reaction… but it doesn’t have to be.
“Ok, professor smarty pants. How else do you suggest that we respond to this ferocious schmuck?”
Oh sister, I’m so glad you asked.
The opposite of panic is confidence, control, composure, courage.
And these emotions are the result of our perception of fear when we reposition it to serve us as a mentor or teacher.
“Alrighty then, how do we do that?”
That’s another brilliant question. Friend, you’re on a roll.
The first thing you need to do is recognize where you are. Call it what it is.
Next, decide what you want to be, where you want to go (you know, that sweet spot)… and commit to the steps necessary to get there.
Finally, get clear on what you don’t want in your life.
Here is the reality of it all…
If you don’t make the decision to “go,” then by default, you’re deciding to stay.
Nothing changes… if nothing changes. Is that really what you want? I don’t think so, sister.
Fear is a master at convincing you to stay and manipulating you into thinking you have every good reason to do so.
Please don’t settle with the cliche’ that this is your “new normal.” Gah… that heats me up more than a menopausal night sweat.
You were made for more than just the status-quo of your circumstances. Be bigger. Be better.
Recalibrate that compass of yours and set your feet on the path that leads to your sweet spot. Neither Rona nor any other predicament gets to determine that for you… unless you let it.
